Six Nations Mourns the Loss of Twelfth Community Member to COVID-19

On September 10, 2021, Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council received confirmation from Ohsweken Public Health that our community has lost a twelfth member due to COVID-19 complications.

Six Nations Elected Council sends their deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of this community member.

This is the first COVID-related death reported in the community since April 29, 2021.

In response to the rapidly growing number of COVID-19 cases on the territory, Six Nations has moved into Alert Level Orange of the Pandemic Response Framework, effective today. To learn more about restrictions under Alert Level Orange, please visit www.sixnationscovid19.ca.

Six Nations Elected Council is keeping in their thoughts all those who have lost a loved one to this virus. There is help available in the community to anyone who may be struggling and needs support during these difficult times. If you think you may have come into contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, or if you are experiencing symptoms, please book a test at the Assessment Centre either online at www.sixnationscovid19.ca, or by phone at 1-855-977-7737 or 226-446-9909.

Six Nations members are also strongly encouraged to get vaccinated by booking a COVID-19 vaccine appointment at www.sixnationscovid19.ca, or by calling the Vaccine Call Center at 226-227-9288.

Community members are urged to continue to follow public health guidelines, including wearing a mask, physical distancing, washing/sanitizing hands frequently, avoiding non-essential travel outside of the province/country, avoiding large private gatherings and crowds, and getting vaccinated. It is up to each of us to do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the community to protect our most vulnerable.
